8. Kiss Kiss Clank Clank (Or Lethal War Machine)
Another piece of Shane Black trivia. Just like The Dark Knight Trilogy showed Christopher Nolan taking his traditional indie values and putting them into $200 million level spectacle, Iron Man 3 has Black bringing much of the skills that made him an acclaimed screenwriter to blockbuster film making. Not only is Iron Man 3 rife with Blacks trademark sly one liners (just as The Avengers was full of Whedon-isms and Thor had an overall Shakespearean vibe to it), but theres some more surprising trademarks he brought to the table. As with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and the much earlier Lethal Weapon, much of the films action is set at Christmas time (for no particular reason). After The Dark Knight Rises bleak winter, audiences may be more used to a non-summer set blockbuster, but its likely many in the audience raised an eye at the Christmas tree finale. It turns out that its more to homage to Blacks back catalogue than to add to the film.
