3. Ridiculously Developed Villains
On the face of it, it may seem like Killians army are a bunch of bland goons. However, each one of the major henchmen is actually based off other Marvel villains. Head underling and part time Iron Patriot Savin is based on cyborg assassin Coldblood and the exploding man Taggart is based on Firepower. Both of these comic origins bear little effect on the characters in the film (Firepower even changed ethnicity), but there is one closer relation. Brandt, the woman who arrests Tony in Tennessee is an adaptation of Ellen Brandt, ex-wife and hunter of the Man-Thing (one Marvel hero you shouldnt expect on the big screen any soon). Her distinctive feature is severe facial disfigurement from her ex-husbands acid touch, something replicated in the film with the marginally toned down scars on her cheek. Deadshot in The Dark Knight Rises, it continues to be impressive how filmmakers continue to pay homage to fan favourites amongst the more well known villains.
