Iron Man 4 Wishlist: 10 Things Fans Demand

Remember, The Ten Rings aren't quite over yet...

It will be a long time until any actor has as much immediate impact on a character and a franchise as Robert Downey Jr did for the MCU and Iron Man. It was on his shoulders that Kevin Feige's vision of a shared universe was built, and without his charisma and his appeal there can be little doubt that a second string Marvel comics character would ever have worked so well on screen.

But now it feels like we're heading towards the end of his time in the MCU. Sure, he has two Avengers appearances and Spider-Man: Homecoming, but Downey Jr's contract will end sooner or later (not least because he's so damn expensive), and the clock is definitely ticking down.

Whether Marvel are happy for that to happen in Avengers 4 or Infinity War remains to be seen, but it would be better for Stark to be given an official swansong of his own, either to die at the end of or to pass the torch to someone else. And with persistent rumours of Iron Man 4 heading towards the MCU slate, we might well get to see that.

But the question then is what we would want from that movie as fans: what absolutely essential things need to happen for it to be the success Robert Downey Jr and Tony Stark deserve it to be...

Here's everything that fans most want from Iron Man 4.

10. Jon Favreau's Return

The man who was responsible for not only kicking off the Iron Man franchise but also bringing in Robert Downey Jr should be the one to potentially put a full-stop on the same series. Hiring Jon Favreau - one of Hollywood's hottest properties again - would be a major deal for Marvel who know what he offers very well.

Will It Happen?

Well that cheeky tweeted image of Favreau, Robert Downey Jr, The Russos and Kevin Feige all at dinner together has certainly raised hopes, if nothing else.

The problem is that Favreau has already grown frustrated at the Marvel machine before: he actually made Chef as a palate cleanser after the distasteful blockbuster experience of Iron Man 2. So it might seem strange that he'd get into that again. But then, he's also made The Jungle Book since then for Disney and has both a sequel to that and The Lion King incoming, so he's not against Disney tent-poles.

And then of course he's also working as an Executive Producer on the Infinity War movies, so a side-step into Iron Man 4 wouldn't be outside the realms of possibility.
