"We're just coming up with who the villain's going to be now. We'll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it'll be a big part of New York."
says Sony producer
Todd Black to the New York Post, sending fanboys into a bit of a guessing game frenzy over who the villain could be for the next
Spider-Man movie. His comment is vague but I guess it rules out a few Spidey villains (or does it, I can't think of any that couldn't exist in New York?). I'm putting my money on
The Lizard, I think it's about time we saw how Dr. Curt Connors transforms to his darker side, though I guess his story isn't all that different to Doc. Ock's in truth and we have been there before with
Spider-Man 2. And is
Dylan Baker a big enough name for Sony to give him the ball? Seeing The Lizard crawl the sewers of New York works for me though, a completely animalistic villain who should have absolutely no sympathy when he's the monster. With every scene he should move further away from the warmth and humanity he showed as his human self. Black also lets us know the villain definitely won't be
Morbius, which seems to be have been ruled out when
Mickey Rourke turned down the part. Maybe Raimi got out all his supernatural themes in
Drag Me To Hell? Still would love to see
Kraven the Hunter given a shot, now
THAT WOULD BE A MOVIE. But I just don't think Sony would ever go there with this family franchise. And we know
Raimi wanted Ben Kingsley as The Vulture in the last movie, so he can't be forgotten either. Oh and if your interested, Black also confirms that
Kirsten Dunst is 100% definitely back for the next movie which means the money trio of Maguire/Dunst/Raimi are on board for at least one more go.
