Is This The Wolverine's First Teaser Poster?

If this isn't an official teaser poster for Fox's sequel, it certainly should be...

Sometimes film news can come from the strangest of sources. Screen Rant have discovered what could be the first look teaser poster for The Wolverine. The image above is reportedly from a photo taken in the 20th Century Fox offices of director James Mangold and uploaded to Instagram. The image has since been deleted from the picture sharing service. We can't verify the poster at the time of writing but we'll say this much... if this isn't an official teaser poster for the film, it certainly should be as it reveals the setting of the sequel to audiences in a very cool, succinct and uncomplicated way with Logan's iconic claws slashing through the Japanese flag. We also love the font and the teaser tagline... Usually your first instincts with this kind of thing is the best way to judge whether it's real or not. My instincts tell me it is real. Completely set in Asia, the movie will follow an amnesiac Wolverine searching for answers about his past in the Japanese criminal underworld and falling in love with a girl he shouldn€™t, as her hand in marriage belongs to another. Wolverine duels off against her father after being told he can€™t marry her and must defeat her samurai brothers and the villainous Silver Samurai himself. Described as a €˜dark character piece€™ that has been compared in some quarters as a superhero version of The Outlaw Josey Wales, the movie is based on the classic Chris Claremont/Frank Miller story from the 80's which Chris McQuarrie (X-Men, The Usual Suspects) adapted for the screen and Mark Bomback (Total Recall remake) has most recently re-drafted. 20th Century Fox are still several months away from a production start on the film as Hugh Jackman is currently shooting the Les Miserables musical for the screen so I don't expect this to be much more than a teaser poster put together for an industry event where promotional posters are regularly displayed. However it's a good tease for how Fox may market the film when the time comes. If true, of course. But what do you think? The Wolverine is heading to theaters on July 26th, 2013.
