Is TRON 2 on?

A couple of months back word broke that commercials hotshot Joseph Kosinski would develop and direct a sequel to cult 80s favourite TRON. With LOST writers Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz on board it seemed as if there was some forward momentum after years of rumours and false starts.

Since that announcement there's been little to no further information on the proposed sequel. Thanks to Collider, however, we have a some new details straight from the mouth of Jeff Bridges himself:-
Collider: I was going to follow up about that. There€™s always rumors about that. Jeff Bridges: I know it. And I€™m always curious as to what they€™re going to say, I hear they€™re going to pitch me one pretty soon so€ Collider: They showed it recently at the New Beverly Cinema recently and it holds up pretty well. Jeff Bridges: Oh yeah? Gosh. We were all so excited when that came out. The technology and everything and about two seconds later every commercial on the TV you could see all that stuff for free. Collider: So a sequel to that, is that something you€™d need to come up reasons why not to do it? (has to do with how he always say he doesn't want to do a project) Jeff Bridges: Why not to do it? The dancebell. Wearing a dancebell€ I know you ladies wear thongs. A dancebell is our version of a thong and it€™s a terrible thing. You can€™t sit down. I got the tights on€there€™s a lot of reasons not to do it. But the reasons to do it and the reason I did that one was because it was so innovative and I understand that they€™ve got a whole new batch of stuff like that€ innovations that they want to use on this so that could be kind of fun.
There you have it Tronites (it's that what you're called?). Seems that Kosinski and his writers may indeed have come up with a take on the film and they'll soon be pitching it to Bridges to try and get him to reprise his role from the first film. I've only ever seen TRON with the sound off, it was playing in a bar whilst I was getting slowly hammered. It looked clunky as hell and the drunker I became the more bizarre it seemed. So hopefully the reasons for making this aren't just because of advancing technology, I don't want to see any more movies with flashy visuals and no story. We already have Michael Bay to deliver on that count and one director is enough, thanks very much! source - collider

Will Reynolds hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
