It: 19 WTF Moments

14. The Swimming Scene

The first big bonding moment between the Losers' Club occurs at the quarry, when they strip down to their underwear and go for a swim.

It's a poignant scene no doubt, though one also has to wonder why the kids didn't bring some shorts with them if they wanted to go for a dip.

Perhaps it's because the 80s were a more innocent time, but the kids' choice of swimming gear does play as a little odd from a modern perspective, especially because the costume department kitted the boys out with diaper-like padded underwear in order to preserve their modesty.

Grateful as everyone surely is for that, it still plays as pretty weird, especially as most of the kids wear shorts at some point in the movie anyway.
