It Chapter 1 & 2: Every Monster Explained & Ranked

7. Mr Keene

Warner Bros.

Alongside Alvin, It brings creepy pharmacist Mr Keene back for the second movie in a couple of sequences, playing up the idea that he's probably a paedophile in one of them. In the first movie, his interactions with Bev hint at it and then when the adult Bev is about to be drowned in a torrent of blood, It uses a vision of Mr Keene to taunt her.

He also appears before Eddie's haunting sequence in the second movie when he goes into the pharmacy and the elderly Keene is seen still working there. He's a real person at this point, but his face is so mottled with what looks like infected and dead skin that he appears as a fear projection.

It's that appearance that makes his later appearance to Bev all the more impactful. After all, there are few bigger monsters than the real-life ones.

Bundled in with him in that bathroom sequence is his daughter, whose high-school bullying of Bev comes back to her as she's struggling too.
