James Bond: 10 Potential Spin-Offs And How They Would Work
6. James Bond Goes Sci-Fi
Over the years James Bond has occasionally dipped its toes in science fiction. Some of the weaponry used by the franchise's villains are definitely not of this earth (Die Another Day's massive solar-power laser beam springs to mind), and then there was the time in Moonraker when Bond actually went to space and shot a laser rifle.
Safe in the realms of spin-off, wouldn't it be great to see Bond actually commit to the genre? If there's room in the world for Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes, the BBC's Sherlock and CBS's Elementary, why can't we have different genre incarnations of Bond, too?
Seeing Bond stumble upon an alien conspiracy (that turns out to be very real) or putting him in a futuristic, Elysium-like environment might sound totally bonkers (and it is), but come on, it'd be way more compelling than another shady villain with a facial scar and predictable agenda.
Twenty-six films in, you've got to wonder how much longer Bond can circle the drain of traditional thriller narratives. Let's see the antagonist build a base or weapon on the moon at the very least.
Besides, can you imagine how awesome it would be to see Q dolling out futuristic tech?
