James Bond: 10 Potential Spin-Offs And How They Would Work

5. What About The Other Double-Oh Agents?

When it comes to who might be cast as the next James Bond, the question gets a lot of people riled up. By far the most consistently proposed and rumoured actor for the last several years has been Idris Elba, yet many believe that because Bond is his own defined character (though the coherency of his life and back story is extremely convoluted) that it wouldn't make sense.

Well, Bond is agent 007. And we know from GoldeEye that there are certainly other double-oh agents working at the same time. So why can't we see one of them? If the character of Bond is so sacred, the solution is rather simple: cast Elba as 005, or 4, or whatever number you want. He can still interact with Q and work with his own team, but it'd allow a great actor an opportunity to take a similar character in a new direction.

It'd be pretty interesting, too, if other double-oh agents were given their own distinct missions based on their number: like Elba's 005 is given missions that are so insanely high risk MI6 doesn't risk dolling them out to higher ranked agents, or his missions are considerably more international.
