Although he made his feature film debut back in 2002, it was with 2016's Hell or High Water that David Mackenzie came to most people's attention. A thrilling neo-Western, if Mackenzie can bring that style to Bond then he'd be a good pick although, like Demange, it'd be another massive step-up in terms of budget and pressure.

Next up he's got The Outlaw King, starring Chris Pine and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, after which his slate will be free for Bond.
