James Bond: 5 Reasons Blofeld Could (And Should) Become A Woman

4. Sex Changes Happen

Dench1 It wouldn't be that revolutionary to replace a male character with a female one in the James Bond films, because it's obviously been done before. Bernard Lee played M for 17 years between 1962 and 1979, and in 1995, Judi Dench replaced Robert Brown as M for GoldenEye, signalling a shift in gender politics for the Bond franchise. Powerful women, as you can garner from the previous point, are few and far between for 007, although Grace Jones as May Day in A View to a Kill is worth a mention. Incidentally, Bond 24 will see the back of our female M, as Ralph Fiennes takes up MI6's head position, leaving something of a gap which should rightly be filled, because even as a field agent, Miss Moneypenny doesn't really cut the mustard. There need to be more female characters in the Bond world, and the sex change would be neither revolutionary or unprecedented.
