Jason Segel: 5 Awesome Performances & 5 That Sucked

4. Gary - The Muppets (2011)

The Muppets Movie Jason Segel is pretty much responsible for bringing The Muppets back to mainstream popularity, what with the brilliantly inventive, musical meta-movie that was 2011's "The Muppets" (nice title, guys). And aside from being lead writer on the flick, which was produced by Walt Disney pictures (with songs by Flight of the Concord's Brett Mackenzie), Segel starred alongside the likes of Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo and the rest of the gang, playing boyfriend to the lovely Amy Adams. So Jason Segel plays Gary in the movie, a goofy guy - and brother to the movie's lead Muppet, Walter - who sets out to help the Muppets in their attempt to thwart Chris Cooper's Tex Richman. Though the part isn't particularly groundbreaking, the actor manages to perfectly encapsulate what it means to be a human being in a Muppet movie, and throws himself entirely in the action. Which means that he both sings and dances - and it's downright hilarious to watch.
