Jennifer Lawrence is joining forces with Adam McKay for a biopic of Elizabeth Holmes, the businesswoman who was last year valued at $4.5bn by Forbes, but is now worth zero.

Holmes is the founder of blood-testing company Theranos, and was rated as the richest self-made woman of last year. However, the company has been dogged by controversy since then, with reports of inaccuracies, investigations, and a closer look at their revenue leading them to be declared worthless.

As per Variety's story, Lawrence will star, and also produce alongside McKay, who'll be writing and directing as well. It should be a fairly comfortable wheelhouse for both of them to operate in. While McKay broke through making comedies, he earned an Oscar for The Big Short, another film that took a look at financial controversy. The role of Holmes, meanwhile, isn't too dissimilar from the one Lawrence played in Joy (which earned her an Oscar nomination), with the difference being that the tables are turned on the character, losing a fortune rather than making one.

Put the pair together, then, and Oscars seem almost guaranteed.

There's no word on when this one will get moving, especially with the pair both pretty busy. Lawrence has sci-fi Passengers to come later this year, and is attached to star in Darren Aronofsky's Day 6, while McKay is producing a bunch of movies, and writing the script for 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp.
