Joel Edgerton To Play The Villain in Lynne Ramsey's Jane Got A Gun

Zero Dark Thirty actor Joel Edgerton has entered talks to join the cast of Jane Got A Gun, a Western action film from Lynne Ramsey (We Need To Talk About Kevin) that will star Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender. The film, scheduled to shoot early 2013, centers on Jane Hammond (Portman), who reaches out to her ex-lover (Fassbender) to help her when her outlaw husband becomes the target of a violent gang. If he signs on, Edgerton would play John Bishop, the leader of the gang who come to kill Hammond's husband and from all intents and purposes, the villain of the piece. 38-year-old Australian actor Edgerton is quickly becoming a household name after his major roles in last year's The Thing remake and opposite Tom Hardy in Warrior. He is soon to be seen as the Squadron Team Leader in Kathryn Bigelow's directed Zero Dark Thirty, about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden - and also in The Great Gatsby opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan. Written by first time writer Brian Duffield, the film will be Ramsey's first since her BAFTA nominated We Need To Talk About Kevin last year. Meanwhile, Portman and Fassbender have already been busy acting opposite each other in a new Terrence Malick project, that was filming in Austin earlier this year; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRskCR3nk3I source - deadline
