John Curran directing Knightley's THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE DAMNED

Sadly THE NOTEBOOK director Nick Cassavetes has dropped out of helming the Keira Knightley corset drama THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE DAMNED. Variety say John Curran, recently coming off helming THE PAINTED VEIL, will take his place. The movie is NOT based on a F. Scott Fitzgerald novel BUT does use the title of one of his famous novels AND contains Fitzgerald as a character. It follows Fitzgerald's real life relationship with his mercurial and schizophrenic wife Zelda Sayre (played by Keira Knightley), a relationship that inspired his great novels THE GREAT GATSBY (and possibly his short story THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON) and quite directly THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE DAMNED which had characters eerily similar to Fitzgerald and his wife. The role of Fitzgerald has yet to be cast, so the hunt is now on to find someone who can play this handsome chap... fitzgeraldfscotbio2 Filming begins in March, hopefully with a second Oscar nomination for Keira Knightley and her strong performance in THE DUCHESS this year.
