Even with expectations being as through-the-roof as they are, it's a genuine pleasure to report that John Wick: Chapter 4 doesn't merely meet them, it exceeds them to deliver the best film in the franchise to date.

While certainly not as brisk as the first John Wick and some of the High Table-adjacent machinations might feel a little over-egged, the character work and especially the ludicrously entertaining action ensures this represents the series' formula elevated to a basically unthinkable degree.

It's incredibly difficult to see how the filmmakers could top this in any future film, but then again, that's what so many fans said about Chapter 3, and this sequel positively achieved that incredible feat.
