John Wick Chapter 4 Review: 8 Ups & 2 Downs

Downs...

2. It's A LITTLE Too Long

Many were surprised when it was confirmed that John Wick: Chapter 4 would clock in at 169 minutes - a runtime typically reserved for only the most huge-scale blockbuster movies, making it almost 40 minutes longer than the previous film.

And while Chapter 4 does weather this beefy runtime surprisingly well, it's also fair to say that the film could use a little trimming to bring it down to a more manageable length.

The opening takes a good while to start shuffling the various chess pieces together, and there's a noticeable pacing dip in the second act, both of which could've been nipped and tucked to feel more concise.

Granted, some downtime between the plentiful action sequences is very much welcome, but overall Chapter 4 might ultimately be a movie you revisit less than its predecessors, if only because you need to carve out a decent chunk of your afternoon to watch the damn thing.
