Joker: Every Easter Egg & Reference We Spotted

14. Bruce Wayne & Alfred Pennyworth

Joker Bruce Wayne
Warner Bros.

Despite Joker being unshackled from the demands of a movie universe, the film does see Arthur come into contact with not only Thomas Wayne but also his young son, Bruce (Dante Pereira-Olson).

When Arthur visits Thomas Wayne's home in order to confront him about possibly being his father, he has a brief encounter with Bruce, which quite emblematically of their future relationship is conducted between bars.

Their meeting is quickly broken up by Bruce's trusty butler Alfred (Douglas Hodge), who much like the film's alternate depiction of Thomas Wayne, is painted as a surlier-than-usual figure, even if his distrust of the clearly unwell Arthur is at least understandable.
