While Batman 1966 isn't an obvious influence on Todd Phillips' movie, the suit we see Arthur Fleck wearing does at least pay homage to Cesar Romero, whose take, on the Clown Prince of Crime despite the silliness of the show, remains one of the most iconic.

It's a slightly more muted version, which it has to be given the tone, but it's interesting to see them going back to Romero for the costume. Indeed, the set photos do show off the Joker seemingly in his element, and taking the campy aspects of the character and reworking them into a sense of fun and demented flair for what's likely going to be a jet black comedy would be an interesting spin on things.
