Jon Hamm: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

2. Inspector Nate Basso - The Division

If we said to you "imagine a police procedural on the Lifetime network about a group of all-female detectives", what would you say? Assuming you know what the Lifetime network is, anyway. A self-styled "women's channel" that mainly airs bad reality shows, bad sitcoms and bad dramas, it's not exactly renowned for producing high-quality entertainment. Definitely not the sort we've gotten used to seeing Jon Hamm in, at least. Which is why it's such a surprise to go back and watch him in said police procedural on the Lifetime network about a group of all-female detectives, The Division, as Inspector Nate Basso, token man and eye candy. Or token man who looks like he's smelt and dealt one in the promo photo above.

It's not a terrible show by any means, just totally middle-of-the-road and not particularly different from any other crime drama that gets repeated endlessly during the daytime. The Division also starred Bonnie Bedelia (John McClane's wife in Die Hard), soap actor Nancy McKeon, Amy Jo Johnson (the pink Power Ranger) and Taraji P Henson (Person Of Interest). None of whom get to do a whole lot in the show, as Hamm doesn't either, each of them putting in some totally average turns as cops of varying degrees of conflictedness. Oh also he had another bad fringe and frequently wore ribbed sweaters.
