2. Ted - Bridesmaids

Weirdly uncredited for one of the best parts of the film, Jon Hamm's Ted is actually also one of the most vital parts of Bridesmaids. After all, his total !*$% of a boyfriend (or casual sex partner, we guess) to Kristen Wiig's Annie is the one whose terrible, terrible ways push her into taking on the stressful/diarrhea-filled part of organising her best friend's hen do - no easy feat when Melissa McCarthy's on the scene, hitting on airline pilots and the like. It's also his total douchery that makes her realise how great Chris O'Dowd's Officer Nathan Rhodes, who lets her off without a ticket for broken tail lights and later tries to convince her to follow her dreams of making a bakery. Which she does! Eventually.

Before all that, however, there's the fact that Jon Hamm is an absolute lunatic in Bridesmaids. The sex scenes between him and Wiig rival the manic energy of Kevin Kline and Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish Called Wanda, making some truly legendary facial expressions and he flings Wiig around like a rag doll. Between the gymnastics, the facial expressions and the truly bizarre dirty talk he comes up with, it's one of the best comic performances in a film full of them. Not bad for a guy best known for playing one of the most stern, reserved, and intense characters on television. We're getting to him, by the way, don't worry.
