Josh Zetumer Will Write ROBOCOP Reboot

Screenwriter Josh Zetumer might be an unknown quantity at this point but the scribe who has been in the industry now for five years (his first original script Infiltrator landed on the Blacklist in 2006, which he then followed up with a second script, Villain, on the list a year later) has already had a shot at some high profile gigs that so far, mostly down to bad luck, haven't turned into anything. He wrote would have been a fourth Bourne movie before Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon decided to bail on the series (nothing to do with the script as far as we can tell) and a similar thing happened with his 175 page draft for an adaptation of Dune, which was put into turnaround over financial concerns. One blockbuster that did carry his dialogue was Quantum of Solace, however only the people on set will know what he contributed because he was the script doctor during filming and was never given a credit for his work. Deadline say Zetumer has just been hired to write Robocop for MGM and we certainly hope he has more luck this time, especially as he has boarded a project that's just recently had the kind of production trouble he is used to. Zetumer will work closely with newly hired Elite Squad director Joe Padilha who are together tasked with rebooting the 1987 science fiction film follows a near dead Detroit police officer who is drafted into becoming a powerful cyborg cop. Robocop is shaping up for a 2013 release.
