Julia Roberts to play wildlife conservationist Joan Root

juliarober_spell_4834719_600.jpgJulia Roberts is continuing to move further and further away from the romantic comedies that made her such a huge star. The news from Variety today is that Roberts will play wildlife conservationist Joan Root in a movie for Working Title Pictures.
The untitled project, inspired by Vanity Fair article "A Flowering Evil," will follow Root's earlier life making documentaries around the globe with her husband. After their divorce, she returned to Kenya where she devoted herself to saving Lake Naivasha from the ecologically damaging flower farm industry.
Root was tragically murdered earlier this year aged 69. It's this type of movie of course which Roberts has chosen to appear in over next month's Ocean's Thirteen flick. What's Danny Ocean's loss could very well be Robert's gain at the Oscars.
