Julia Stiles Joins David O. Russell's THE SILVER LININGS PLAY BOOK

Joins Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Jennifer Lawrence, Jacki Weaver and Chris Tucker in David O.Russell's drama that films soon in Philadelphia.

With a career dating back to the 90s, Julia Stiles never did truly become the breakout star that was once expected of her after appearing in the teen romantic comedy 10 Things I Hate About You (1999). For a while there things were looking good. In 2001 she led her own movie with Save The Last Dance, won herself a high profile gig in The Bourne Trilogy, along with parts in Mona Lisa Smile (2006) and the remake to The Omen (2006). But post-The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) her big screen work had dried up, leading her recently to take a regular slot on t.v. serial killer drama Dexter. According to a recent Deadline report though, she is on the way back to the big screen, joining a cast that includes Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper, for David O. Russell€™s new flick, The Silver Linings Playbook. Based on the critically acclaimed novel by Matthew Quick, the plot revolves around clinically depressed Pat Peoples (Cooper) who is divorced and recently released from a mental institution, as he moves in with his mother, intent on rebuilding his life and seeing the silver lining. Jennifer Lawrence will play the love interest, whilst Stiles slots in as Pat€™s older sister in likely a small-ish role but at least one in a high-profile movie. Jacki Weaver and Chris Tucker also appear. Yes you read that right, Chris Tucker! It will be his first screen appearance since his astonishingly large payheque for Rush Hour 3 way back in 2007 and the first movie he has made without the comfort blanket of Brett Ratner in over a decade. Tucker will play Pat€™s institutionalised friend, who breaks out several times in order to visit Pat. Production will begin soon in Philadelphia and with a good-looking cast, and a Oscar nominated director leading the pack, The Silver Linings Playbook has certainly got off on the right foot and we're looking forward to this one.
