Juno trailer

Despite great word of mouth for Jason Retiman's latest movie, this trailer for Juno doesn't do much for me.

I've been hearing a lot about Juno lately, mainly from reading Slash Film who claim the movie is the best 2007 has had to offer so far. The movie has a full 100% record of 7 positive reviews over at Rotten Tomatoes to back up his statement and also an extremely impressive 9.4 IMDB rating after 125 reviews, which obviously means most people voted the movie at 10! So if the movie is that good, then what's with this clunky trailer? It feels way too 'gushy gushy' and has that screenwriting 101 feel to it, with nothing new and nothing we haven't seen before. Most of all it just doesn't look very interesting. Juno is about a 16 year old girl who finds herself knocked up by accident and she decides to have the baby and give it away to a couple who can't have children. There's a great cast in this. Ellen Page (a.k.a. Kitty Pryde in X-Men 3) plays the young girl, Michael Cera who I saw rock the house in Superbad this week plays what looks to be the same kind of character... as the guy who knocks her up. The cool Jason Bateman along with Jennifer Garner are the couple she gives her baby away too and J.K. Simmons almost looks setup to have the same kind of supporting impact that Alan Arkin had in Little Miss Sunshine last year. The movie comes from Jason Reitman who last helmed the critically successful Thank You for Smoking and will be in theatres on December 14th in the U.S.
