In the Years That Followed: After 2001, Jeter continued playing Mr. Noodle in different media springing out of Elmo's World, but unfortunately passed away in March 2003, bringing a close to a career that spanned nearly a quarter century consisting of appearances in numerous television shows and films like Waterworld, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The Green Mile. Following his passing, two further films featuring his last performances were released: 2003's Kevin Costner film Open Range and Robert Zemeckis' The Polar Express in 2004, in which Jeter pulled double duty providing the motion capture for Smokey and Steamer, the titular locomotive's engineers.
