The series' computer-averse paleontologist had a number of standout moments in the original film, from scaring the hell out of a kid at his dig site to squaring off against a Tyrannosaurus with nothing but a flare to pondering what the cloning of dinosaurs would do to the future of paleontology. And it says a lot about how great Sam Neill is in the role that, even when he was saddled with the series' worst sequel, the character still came out the other end unscathed.
