Following numerous delays and a tricky mid-pandemic production, the sixth Jurassic Park movie - and the apparent conclusion to the "Jurassic Saga" - is out now in cinemas worldwide.

And while fans were optimistic that roping the series' original trio of leads - Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum - back into the fray might smooth over the debris left by its clunky predecessor Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, there's little joy in reporting that Jurassic World: Dominion is somehow even more of a misstep.

With an avalanche of negative reviews stacking up to date, the message is clear: franchise fatigue has come for Jurassic Park.

And though there might be just about enough comfort food here for those who go in with sufficiently calibrated expectations, that's quite the low bar to set.

Dominion should've been a fun culmination of everything good about the past five movies, but instead it's a stodgy, stamina-sapping slog of a blockbuster that fatally misunderstands the appeal of the entire franchise.

There's absolutely no chance it's anything less than a box office smash regardless, yet the blatant creative bankruptcy on display suggests the series is best put on ice for the foreseeable future.

To that end, here's what Dominion gets so, so wrong...
