Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Review - 5 Ups & 7 Downs
Ups
5. It's Nostalgic And Knows What Fans Want
It's not all terrible, thankfully, and there is genuinely something to admire in the way some of the nostalgic elements are done. We get some shot for shot remakes of moments and spiritual homages too, from the sight of the first brachiasaur on Isla Nubar mimicking the first dino shot in Jurassic Park to Isabel remaking the panicked raptor kitchen sequence with the cabinet door from that movie.
Hell, they even have a cheeky little nod in there to Claire's high heels, as if acknowledging their part in the franchise's mythology.
Fundamentally, the film-makers know exactly what the fans will be looking for, which is why the movie will probably still make Fast & Furious money. It doubles down on some of the stuff that worked in Jurassic World and gives older fans something to suck on too. It's just a shame that the bridging work between them is so dumb and dull.
