4. Meet Supergirl
While it's been said that Zack Snyder has always had a five-part plan for the DC Extended Universe, it's unclear just how much of that he had planned out in advance. Regardless, it was supposed to play out over Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, two Justice League movies, and a Man of Steel sequel somewhere in there too.
That first Superman movie showed an empty pod in the Kryptonian ship which was believed to be a nod to Supergirl, and the filmmaker recently confirmed that he did indeed have plans for the hero.
He's even teased a standalone adventure for Kara Zor-El, and while it's unclear what sort of future Snyder has in the DCEU, it's not outside the realm of possibility that he'll plant some seeds for stories he can potentially one day return to tell.
Casting an actress to play Supergirl seems unlikely, but the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League ending with Superman learning that he's not alone on Earth would be a pretty amazing tease for comic book fans.
