Justice League: 10 Things It Should Have Done Differently
7. Bigger Twists And Surprises
One thing Justice League lacked from a story perspective was any real twists or surprises. Superman's return was inevitable from the moment he died in Dawn of Justice, and was there really anything unpredictable about it?
Everyone knew the other heroes would clash with Supes to some degree or other post-resurrection, and The Flash pretty much spoiled Lois Lane's role in bringing the Man of Steel back on side in Batman's Knightmares.
If Green Lantern had showed up in the final battle and the studio had kept his cameo under wraps, that would have qualified as a satisfactory twist. Similarly, if Steppenwolf had raised Superman from the dead as his thrall, forcing the Justice League to figure out a way to bring him back to the light, the stakes would have been higher.
The storytelling was linear and the level of jeopardy never quite hit the heights required. Sure, Steppenwolf and his Parademons posed a threat, but given that the Justice League is comprised of the world's greatest heroes, there was never any sense of them losing the war once Supes was back by their side.
Not every blockbuster movie boasts a big 'I am your father' or 'he was a ghost the whole time' reveal, but Justice League sorely lacked that memorable moment nobody saw coming, but everyone left the theatre talking about.
