Justice League: 11 Final Concerns

3. The Stakes Might Be Lacking

One of the most common complaints about the majority of superhero movies across the board is that they don't palpably convince the audience that their apparently world-ending scenarios have real, tangible stakes.

With Man of Steel not giving a damn about mass casualties, Batman v Superman clumsily trying to apologise for it, Superman dying without anyone caring and Suicide Squad deferring to typical beam-in-the-sky nonsense, the DCEU doesn't exactly have a sterling track record when it comes to making threat and peril feel real.

With Justice League clearly featuring light-as-air CGI enemies and bringing Superman back to life after an underwhelming demise, it's entirely possible the film will end up feeling oddly inconsequential despite Steppenwolf's apocalyptic plan and the return of a fallen hero.

Simply, the action and drama may have little weight, physically or emotionally, and fail to engage audiences in the visceral way that the better MCU movies have managed to. Nobody's expecting a Logan-esque gorefest, but just something that feels a little more violent and real, please?
