Justice League: 29 Easter Eggs & References You Need To See

An early shot in the movie contains a reference to recent pop-culture tragedies that's a little tasteless and very, very weird. In the opening montage sequence showing a world without Superman, an edition of the Metropolis Post asks, "Did they return to their planet?", with the subtitle, "Mysterious wave of disappearing heroes", before including images of David Bowie, Superman and Prince.

It's additionally amusing and odd that the headline says "planet" rather than "planets", which seems to imply that the MetPo thinks Bowie and Prince might also be Kryptonian.

And on top of all this, the use of these specific pop-culture figures is especially interesting considering Prince's appearance on the 1989 Batman soundtrack, and a cover of Bowie's iconic "Heroes" being used for Justice League's marketing.
