Justice League: 8 Theories On How Superman Will Return

7. Time Or Dimensional Travel

The Theory

The Superman who returns might not even be the same one who died at the end of Batman v Superman. There's a long-running trope in comic books of multiverse variant characters swapping realities/dimensions when their own reality is in danger or wiped out entirely. And now that The Flash is active, such a variant Superman (whose black costume could reflect that inherent difference) has a means to appear.

And then, of course, there's the possibility that The Flash could use his powers to travel into the past and bring Superman back with him to save the day. It might sound a little convenient, but that's exactly what The Flash's powers allow him to be.

Likelihood

We already know dimensional travel is possible thanks to the coming Flashpoint movie, and looking at the dynamic of the Justice League, he's the only one who doesn't strictly have a role. Batman is the prophet of impending doom, while Wonder Woman, Cyborg and Aquaman all have close personal ties to Mother Boxes. Barry seems to just be called upon because he's fast.

But what if it's his inter-dimensional/time travel powers that Bruce wants to follow up on specifically after he glimpsed then in Batman v Superman? What if he sees him as a key to bringing Superman back?
