Justice League Dark Review: 4 Ups & 5 Downs

4. Mediocre Animation & Character Designs

The Killing Joke clearly took a hit on the production side in order to get its R-rating, and the same sadly seems to be the case here, as the animation quality is all over the place.

Compared to some of Warner's better animated DC movies of recent years, this feels cheap and quickly churned out, with establishing shots of the city-scape looking especially rancid and rushed. Combining traditional animation with some CGI elements also results in a number of moments that look downright ugly.

Character designs outside of the central group are also likely to be controversial: Superman in particular looks absolutely ridiculous (his head is far too small for his body and his face is bland to look at, but at least he only appears in cameo form), and Wonder Woman's design isn't great either.
