I enter into this choice with some apprehension. Im a person who feels that if an actor is portraying a comic book character of great prominence then he/she shouldnt portray another thats quite similar. Elba is known well as Heimdall in the
Thor films. Heimdall is somewhat similar to Martian Manhunter in terms of personality and demeanor. Also, I think its somewhat weird to have an actor jump from Marvel to DC films. Not that its a betrayal thing or anything. Its just slightly awkward. I cant think of anyone better to play Jonn Jonnz. With his work as Heimdall, you can see why hed be great as Martian Manhunter. Besides that, Elba has a quiet strength about him in his acting. His presence is discreetly powerful. He doesnt have to speak and you feel his impression with all of his characters. I really cant think of anyone better, honestly. Hes one of the most popular and best actors out there right now. Hes got

RocknRolla, and hes set to appear in Pacific Rim, Thor: The Dark World and a Nelson Mandela biography picture where he portrays the legendary title character.
