Justice League Film Must Learn From The Avengers Success

What DC and Warner Bros. need is to establish a consistency in their heroes, Batman Superman and Green Lantern, creating stand-alone stories for each with an actor that will return for a "JLA "movie. With "Green Lantern" they have a start for this. A solid sequel with a lead in to the "JLA "could cement that in the same way "Iron Man 2" cemented Tony Stark€™s involvement with "The Avengers". This would be less time consuming than focusing on a different Green Lantern such as Kyle Rayner which would require either giving him his own film or attempting to mash his origin into an already clustered "JLA" film. In the forthcoming "Man of Steel", Superman€™s involvement could be established. While it seems pretty well known that Christian Bale€™s Batman is drawing to a close with "The Dark Knight Rises", it could still be possible to see him return for a "JLA" movie. In the case of Wonder Woman and The Flash, at least one of them needs their own establishing film and story---preferably both. A "Wonder Woman" film has been in development hell for years, bouncing between film and television and even having "The Avengers" director Joss Whedon attached at one point (I bet DC/Warner Bros. are kicking themselves for letting him out of that contract!. Black Widow and Hawkeye were part of "The Avengers" without establishing films of their own, but with heroes as well-known as Wonder Woman and the Flash; reducing them to supporting members of a team is sure to not go over well with fans. DC/Warner Bros. would do well to look at what made the Avengers so successful beyond the one film. It was bold, and it was financially risky, but it was what fans of the heroes wanted and it paid off. Another thing that made "The Avengers" work was Nick Fury. Samuel L. Jackson€™s portrayal was spot on but more than that, the character of Nick Fury provided an anchor for the Avengers. He was not only the man that brought the Avengers Initiative to fruition he and his team also provided a link in each establishing film that laid the groundwork for the assembly of the Avengers in the first place. One such character comes to mind in a Justice League movie---J€™onn Jonzz---The Martian Manhunter. Click "Next" to read the final part...
