A handily expositional voice-over from the radio talks up the state of the world - violence, acts of war and terrorism are all on the rise. Almost like Superman was right all along.
Maybe it's problematic, but why should anyone feel any sympathy for Metropolis (or the rest of those who wanted to control or destroy Superman out of fear)? They made their bed.
Speaking of terrorism, we then get a shot of an explosion in Britain (you can tell by the police cars), which presumably is what draws Diana Price back into the game.
It probably also helps that some kids appear to be in peril too...
