Justice League Movie: Why Warner Bros NEED Nolan & Bale To Make It Work

8. Any Nolan Influence Is Welcomed By Fans

Christopher Nolan

Now one part of this rumor that hasn't been mentioned yet is the fact that Christopher Nolan isn't rumored for the Director's chair again, it is in fact Zack Snyder who's rumored to be directing Justice League. Now while this lessens the chances of Christian Bale actually returning in the role of Batman, it doesn't necessarily mean he's out for the count. Nolan's involvement as an Executive Producer could still lock Bale into frame as the Caped Crusader, and on top of that it would keep the films in a grounded (yet fantastical) framework. Man of Steel already looks different from any other Superman film, or DC film for that matter, before it. Even Hans Zimmer's presence as composer on the film shows that Nolan's template has struck enough comic book gold for Warner Brothers to trust the man implicitly. Also, the look of the film has a more matured presence to it, as it looks like Superman is squaring off against believable adversaries that just happen to be aliens in some cases. Zod isn't running around in black spandex, he looks more grizzled in Michael Shannon's guise. Jor-El isn't Marlon Brando's odd and aloof father figure, he's now Russell Crowe's more warrior looking counterpart. Even the Kents seem more grounded, with Pa Kent questioning whether Clark should aspire to be the Man of Steel. All of these elements basically prepare the audience to eschew the soft focused, comic book friendly aesthetic in exchange for a more serious, and starker looking reality. It looks beautiful, but at the same time it looks dangerous and believably so. This is something Nolan excels with, and if the trailer is any indication Snyder doesn't look to far behind himself.
