Karl Urban: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

1. Vaako - The Chronicles Of Riddick

The Riddick series has always confused me, mainly because Pitch Black is such a clear stand-alone, and an iffy one at that. The expansion of the film into a full-on mythology in The Chronicles Of Riddick is nothing more than Vin Diesel stroking his ego (sorry, but that’s all it is - he makes himself king at the end).

To become king he beats out Karl Urban’s Vaako, although he’s really just another angry soldier with a silly hairstyle that we’ve seen far too much of in this list. Perhaps most disquieting is that Urban came back for a brief cameo in Riddick, setting up more appearances down the line.

There is something kind of fitting that when so many of Urban’s gritty heroes were just him staring grumpily that the one time it really worked was when you couldn’t see any of it (Dredd really is awesome).

What's your favourite Karl Urban performance? What's his worst? Have your say down in the comments.
