I haven't seen a
Kevin Costner movie in seven years. It's a shame because I loved seeing the guy's work in the late 80's to mid 90's but none of the flicks that he has starred in since the year 2000 with
Thirteen Days has held any appeal to me at all. Apart from maybe
Open Range which I have a mild interest for, but the trailer was crappy. Of course he has the crime/thriller
Mr. Brooks opening in just a couple of weeks in the States and I think that looks great, but sadly no word of a U.K. release just yet.
Variety are reporting that Costner's next film will be the Indie comedy movie
Swing Vote, to be helmed by
Neverwas director
Joshua Michael Stern. Costner will star and produce the movie through his new company Treehouse Films.
Story revolves around a single father thrust into the national spotlight when the presidential election comes down to his vote. Pic begins lensing in July.
Costner starred in two of the worst looking movies of last year,
The Guardian with
Ashton Kutcher (looked absolutely horrid) and
Rumor Has It (which if I'm honest was Dec. 22nd 05) so this movie is a very welcome return to sanity for an actor I still hold in high regard.
