Kick-Ass 2: 10 Things You Might Have Missed

7. Todd And Marcus, Aren't You Different

Todd2 Those who rewatched Kick-Ass before heading off to the cinema to catch the sequel will probably have noticed a few discrepancies between the two films. I'm not talking about the sense of fun or realism (more on that later), but the castings of pretty major characters. Most obvious is Marcus, Mindy€™s new guardian. A character who appeared in the first film, but not the comic, Mark Millar wrote him into the print sequel with a much larger role. The character sits just on the periphery of both films that the recast doesn't really register as a problem. Much more perplexing is Todd. Dave€™s best friend was originally played by Evan Peters, who couldn't return due to scheduling conflicts. A good job was made with Augustus Prew - if you weren't paying attention you wouldn't have noticed the swap - but the character was dealt with pretty poorly. Despite a much closer recast than with Marcus, Todd is relegated to a minor supporting character; he€™s inexplicably shunned by his friends and aimlessly flits through the plot. I guess relegating him in this way meant there wasn't any way to get distracted by the change, but it feels overly forced.
