Kiefer Sutherland: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

2. David - The Lost Boys

Kiefer Sutherland's third collaboration with director Joel Schumacher to make our list has him as one of the most iconic vampire villains to have ever graced our screens - as punk idol David in brat pack classic The Lost Boys, Sutherland is charismatic, mesmerising, otherworldly and - above all - really, really creepy. Wherever your opinions lie as to the quality of this movie in general, there's no denying that Sutherland's undead baddie is the highlight of the piece - it's no wonder people remember Kiefer above everyone; he's the best part of the movie. How, exactly, did this then relatively unknown actor manage to infuse his vampire antagonist with such notably edgy cool? Granted, David is certainly a creation of pure evil... but the movie is slightly flawed in the sense that Kiefer manages to make being dead sound like a hell of a lot of fun. Though the movie certainly wasn't designed purely as a vehicle to show off Sutherland's talents as an actor, that's certainly what - looking back upon it now, years later - it feels like. There's something undeniably intoxicating about the way he carries himself on screen.
