Kirsten Dunst Accidentally Got High For Her New Movie

When fake joints go wrong.

There's a fairly rich history of actors going the extra mile when it comes to convincingly playing drunk or high characters in movies. Some prefer to immerse themselves in research, studying the characteristics of inebriation or being under the influence, but for others, that sounds a bit too much like hard work. So they blaze it up legitimately for the real, authentic experience.

And it seems that the Kirsten Dunst is the latest actor to admit using real drugs on a set, though her situation was a little different to those who did it in the name of their art.

She appeared on Jimmy Kimmel to confirm that she accidentally smoked a whole joint on the set of her new movie Woodshock, in the mistaken belief that it was actually a fake:

"We were doing this one scene where, obviously in the movie I don't smoke that many, but when you're doing takes you're doing one after the next after the next and I wasn't eating that much at the time and so I, after we were done with the scene I went back to this little bedroom to rest and I started to feel like I was losing my mind. I went to the bathroom. I'm pacing. I'm like, 'Laura,' to the director, 'There's something wrong with me. I think I need to go to the hospital. Like there's something seriously up. I feel like I'm losing my mind.' I'm shaking. I'm hot. I'm just flipping out. So one of the producers comes in, and they're like 'how do you feel?' I was like 'I feel terrible. I don't know what's wrong with me.' He goes back. He looks at all of the, you know, everything that I smoked to make sure everything's ok. He came back. He was like, 'oh you smoked a full blunt on one of the takes.'"

Now that's method acting.

Sadly for the film-makers, Dunst's accidental highness meant that filming had to stop for the day, while she was sent home to sort herself out (and deal with her munchies). You have to wonder whether any of those takes where she legitimately smoked the blunt made it into the final film...
