Kiss Me Deadly: 10 Films That Feature Necrophilia

1. NEKRomantik

Rob, a lonely, troubled figure, works for a company picking up bits of bodies strewn on the highways after automobile accidents. He brings home body parts to his girlfriend and they play with them during sex and preserve them. One day Robbie comes across the opportunity to nick an entire corpse and this is joyfully received by Betty when he takes it home. They have a menage a trois with Betty sticking a pipe on the corpse to act as his willy. Rob is fired from his job for being smelly and late. Betty reads to the corpse and sits on his face. She is furious that Rob got fired and takes off with the corpse. In a rage, he kills the cat and bathes in its entrails. He then tries to kill himself but predictably cannot even get that right. Rob goes and finds a prostitute, takes her to a cemetery, strangles her and shags her dead body. He attempts suicide again and this time does it right. NEKRomantik is probably the first film people think of when they ponder movies featuring necrophilia (and I am positive that I am not alone in thinking about necrophilia in the movies!). The director of the film - Jorg Buttgereit - master of Teutonic extremism - declared his films to be "Corpse f**king art". Like so much of Buttgereit's work, NEKRomantik has one foot firmly placed in the gutter and the other foot planted in the arthouse. Yes it exploits necrophilia as the theme of the movie but it does so in an artistic, low-key and serious manner. There are however, horrifying and gory moments in the film to satisfy fiends of extreme cinema. Mainly involving sexual antics with a dead body. And the guy who gets decapitated by a spade in the end.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
