Knightely is DAMNED to corset movies!

Well, well Keira. Just when we were saying you had put those corsets and period movies behind you! The Hollywood Reporter say the Brit actress is in talks for THE BEAUTIFUL AND THE DAMNED, a period love drama re-telling the relationship of writers F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Sayre. Knightley is in talks for the latter role in the Nick Cassavetes (THE NOTEBOOK, ALPHA DOG) directed drama...

With a screenplay by Hanna Weg, the film revolves around the Jazz Age icons Fitzgerald, famed for writing "The Great Gatsby," and Zayre known for living large, soaring high and crashing hard. Although they were both the toast of the town during the roaring '20s, their courtship and marriage was festooned with jealousy and acrimony with both parties using the relationship as the basis for their various novels.
The artwork above is actually from a F. Scott Fitzgerald novel and is not what the movie is based on. They have just decided to use the title as the novel is often said to have been heavily based on the real life relationship between Fitzgerald and Sayre. Does that make sense? Shooting is hoped to begin in April, once Knightley has finished KING LEAR and her first non-period movie in three years, LAST NIGHT. Loved Cassavetes' NOTEBOOK, one of my favourites of 2004 and you know, I do like Knightley as an actress most of the time. Wonder which lucky thesp gets to play opposite her this time around.
