If there are any Oscars that Le Mans '66 actually has a strong chance of winning, it's surely the Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing awards. Simply put, this is one of the most sonically dynamic movies of the year.

If you're considering waiting for Netflix or the Blu-ray, this thing is absolutely worth seeing in cinemas if only for the jaw-dropping sound mix, with the deafening roar of the various vehicles' engines heightening the immersion considerably.

Moreover, the cars all sound different, and are expertly integrated into the overall sound mix. Sound is a vital component of any great racing movie, and this movie delivers some of the most spectacular aural work of any recent entry into the genre.
