Leonardo DiCaprio: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

1. Hugh Glass - The Revenant (2015)

It was getting to the point where fans were wondering what DiCaprio had to do to get himself an Oscar: he'd gone full villain, he'd played an outrageous real life figure and several historical ones, and he'd played a mentally handicapped child. Aside from a trans character, there weren't many cliches left to plunder... But the actor had one final string to his bow: disappearing so far into method that Daniel Day Lewis might have been concerned for his well-being. He might have drawn the line at actually being mauled by a bear, but for The Revenant, DiCaprio made some serious sacrifices, staying in character no matter what and chowing down on raw bison liver despite being a vegetarian. This is no empty method-stacked performance however: DiCaprio's Glass is raw and devastating, cut from the Frontier landscape perfectly like a walking shredded nerve. It's an incredibly compelling performance and one that should legitimately earn him the Oscar win he's missed out on so narrowly for years.
