Liam Hemsworth Joins Independence Day 2
Thor's younger brother eyes his own chance to save the world.
Liam Hemsworth has found fame with supporting roles in The Expendables and The Hunger Games franchises, but he has yet to carve out the same leading man career as his older brother Chris. That could all be about to change however as the Aussie actor is now being eyed for a leading role in Rolan Emmerich's Independence Day sequel (which is also being referred to as ID Forever). Will Smith won't be reprising the role which helped to make him famous back in 1996, but there have been rumours that Fantastic Four star Michael B. Jordan may play his now adult son in the movie. A cameo could still happen, but it seems unlikely when Smith is set to be so busy playing Deadshot in upcoming DC Comics adaptation, Suicide Squad. Carter Blanchard rewrote the most recent draft of the script which was initially penned by Emmerich and Dean Devlin, with James Vanderbilt also contributing. The sequel is set for a 2016 release. Though Independence Day was a hit, whether there is still interest in the franchise two decades later remains to be seen. This could be an important step for Liam Hemsworth, but it's hard to say as there are currently no details available in regards to who he will be playing in the movie. Source:The Wrap
